At South Peters Dentistry, we understand the impact of missing teeth on your quality of life. That’s why Dr. Luke Hunley and our skilled team are committed to providing high-quality, custom denture solutions to help you regain your smile, confidence, and ability to eat and speak comfortably. Whether missing a few teeth or a full arch, we have denture options to suit your needs.
Dentures are removable appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. They improve the appearance of your smile, support facial muscles, enhance your ability to eat and speak and boost your overall confidence. Modern dentures are custom-crafted to look natural and fit comfortably, allowing you to enjoy life to the fullest.
At South Peters Dentistry, we offer two types of dentures to meet your specific needs:
Partial dentures are an excellent option if you’re missing some, but not all, of your teeth. These dentures clip onto your remaining natural teeth, filling in the gaps in your smile. They’re removable for easy cleaning and can be a cost-effective solution for multiple missing teeth.
Traditional full dentures are designed to replace a complete arch of missing teeth, either upper, lower, or both. These dentures rest directly on your gums and are held in place by suction and dental adhesive. Dr. Hunley carefully crafts these dentures to ensure they look natural and fit comfortably, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.
When you visit South Peters Dentistry for dentures, you can expect a thorough and personalized experience:
1. Initial Consultation: Dr. Hunley will examine your oral health, discuss your needs and preferences, and recommend the best denture option for you.
2. Measurements and Impressions: We’ll take detailed measurements and impressions of your mouth to ensure your dentures fit perfectly.
3. Custom Fabrication: Your dentures will be custom-made based on these impressions, ensuring a natural look and comfortable fit.
4. Fitting and Adjustments: Once your dentures are ready, we’ll have you try them on and make any necessary adjustments for optimal comfort and function.
5. Follow-up Care:We’ll schedule follow-up appointments to ensure your dentures continue to fit well and address any concerns you may have.

It typically takes a few weeks to fully adjust to new dentures. During this time, you may experience increased saliva flow, some soreness, and difficulty speaking or eating. These issues usually resolve as you become accustomed to your dentures.
Clean your dentures daily with a soft-bristled brush and denture cleaner. Remove and rinse them after eating. Soak them overnight in water or a mild denture solution. Handle them carefully to avoid dropping and damaging them.
Initially, you may need to adjust to eating and speaking with dentures. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces and practice speaking. With time and practice, these activities will become more comfortable and natural.
On average, dentures should be replaced every 5-7 years. However, this can vary based on wear and tear, changes in your bone structure, and how well you care for your dentures.
It’s generally recommended to remove your dentures at night to give your gums a rest and prevent potential fungal infections. However, always follow Dr. Hunley’s specific instructions for your situation.
